Maya Work
3D Modeling & Texturing Projects
Yoshi A.K.A. (Man)
Yoshi A.K.A (Man) was a little project I did during my summer. The idea behind my project was to replicate this stuffed Yoshi I have had since I was 7, in Maya. It was a really good time making it and bringing it to life. Dealing with a stuffed figure rather than a solid one was really interesting because it is never perfect on any side. If I were to go back and fix it, I would adjust the texturing, because it currently looks more like yarn than the material it is actually made of. However, the process of taking something from the real world and making it digitally was such a fun thing to do that I can't wait to do it again.
The Skateboard
The skateboard was one of my later projects completed in my 3D modeling class. The process was very interesting as I was trying my best to improve my skills. It was with this assignment where I had more creative liberty to make what I wanted, so I put Mario on the bottom of the board with a nice blue base. In post-mortem, I realize that there is certainly more work that could be done to make this board feel more real and lifelike. This assignment proved to me that while 3D modeling is incredibly challenging, it is also highly fun and rewarding when well executed.
The Chest
The chest was my second 3D modeling assignment from my class. It was incredibly challenging working with beveling, high and low poly modeling, and baking textures onto the models. The first picture represents my first attempt at the chest, where there are clearly more visible issues with the texturing. Meanwhile, the second image is more rustic and clean with its design. However, I will admit the nice gold rivets were lost on that second model and were never fixed due to a lack of time on the assignment. If I were to go back, I would absolutely fix this and make it look right.
